Japanese cotton fabrics can be made into beautiful fabric flowers. The main characteristics of the fabric are attractive motifs and material strength.
That’s why I like collecting Japanese cotton fabric scraps from nearby fabric stores. The stores sell scraps they get from textile factories or groceries.
That’s why the cuts of the fabrics are often asymmetrical but that’s okay. I still can make pretty fabric flowers using them.
Most of the Japanese cotton motifs are flowers though there are also polka dots and lines. They have a lot of colors ranging from the bright ones to pastels. Added to its good quality of materials, the resulted fabric flowers are awesome. As for the center of the flowers, I use the same fabric motifs to make wrapped buttons.
These fabric flowers can be used as brooches, bandanas, etc.
